Judging by your 'name', you have an interest in things Celtic! My Gaelic is a bit rusty, but doesn't 'dubhglas' means something like 'very dark grey/black'?
I'm very interested in my Scottish heritage,---my family background, Scottish music, dancing, etc. From the connecting knitting to this, I knit kilt socks for dancing friends, to wear with their kilts. The challenge with these socks is that they're on display, when worn, so they must be absolutely identical, no fudging on the length, pattern, etc.! I also, don't like to knit two pairs with the design on the cuff, so I scour my stitch pattern books to find ones that work with the required no. of stitches as well as with the number of rows for the repeat. One thing Ilearned early on was not to continue a cable on to the instep of the sock, as the 'lumps' are uncomfortable under the laces, or inside the shoe. "Hoodathunkit?" Cheers, Cathie

About Me:
Grandmother of 3 beautiful girls, Mother of 3 very male sons, and slave to 3 very active, very uppity cats. (I think that there may be a "magickal" theme of 3's going on here...) Being a knitter in Daytona has its drawbacks... no LYS except for JoAnns and Micheals so KnitPicks.com is my best friend, and our "need extra warmth" season is limited to a few shorts weeks. But I knit anyway. (There's a secret wish for a coming IceAge in my heart)
