Socks from the toe up: Did I mention I really like this!

Oh, yes. I do really like this. Perhaps I have been doing socks for, oh, say, 17 years from the top down. And if I were to actually count how many pairs that would be, well, let us just say it would be quite a few pairs. I am enamored with the toe up method and process. What can I say? I am even doing them with two circular needles. I have not given up the double pointed needles nor have I given up on socks from the top down. I am just enjoying something different.… Continue

What else have I been working on, do I hear you ask? Well, several things. Some towels. Don't tell anyone, but they are gifts for this holiday season. Easy to do… Continue

It is now summer! New Book and Socks

Well, I have a new book. It is from Wendy Johnson, aka, Wendy Knits. Toe up socks have not been real fun for me and I have made a sock that used the square toe from the Favorite Socks book by Interweave Press. Ok, a good cast on if you want square or (ballet toes).

While we are discussin… Continue

March Medly progress

Here is the progress on the sweater. I am so, happy with it. Now I hope I have enough of the main colors without having to be creative with the little bits from my stash I am not using.

Keep knitting!

Whats you been up to? Pray all is well. Finally posted some pictures. Working on afghan for Rich in Kentucky and pair of slouchy socks for grand daughter in Washington. Ordered up a couple of the lace kits from KnitPicks to make scarfs for Christmas and the boys get hats! Figured I'd post one of each when I get them done.
Well, miss you lots. Take care and God bless, Donna

Thanks for the info on the sweater. Took a look at it and decided I'm going to tear about the back I got done and make the one you suggested, February sweater. However, no alterations since I like the basic original patter I think. I think of you and my old knitting friends often, and I really miss your and my visits. Joe is ordained now. Took classes the last 2 years and studies in prison. Dont' remember if I told you or not. Oh, by the way; could you please email me a copy of your pie shawl? I lost mine on vacation while I was finishing up my sisters shawl. Sooooo please tell everyone I said hi and I really really miss you! Take care and God bless Diana. Hope all is well with you and your family. Donna

Well, I've finished a few scarfs and got off to the ex daughter in-laws so they didn't feel forgotten. I've finished Ezakiahs sweater and such and even made Elias a scarf so he didn't feel left out. Made a scarf from the book I bought at the Knittery for Rich. He's coming home from Afghanastan this coming Monday and we are driving up to Tenn. to see him when he gets off the plan. Still working on my shawl. Got my sisters their gloves off for Christmas and now working on 3 speciality yarn scarfs for a Chinese auction I'm heading up for charity thru our Welcome Wagon group I'm in. My sweater has gone to the wayside and if I get started back on it I'll probably need "alot" of direction from "you know who" long distance! I'm thinking about checking around and see if I can find a 3X basic pattern I like and use it so I don't have to mess with the alterations, since just knitting a larger sweater is going to be a challenge on it's own....... Still have a shawl for Vicki (my sister you meet) and one for my sister in law. I'm using the pattern I got from you, the 7 sectional. When I finally get back to the heart shawl I'm almost thinking about tearing apart what I've done, since I have flaws I've noticed off and on and I know as well as you do; practice makes perfect and I've been doing lots of it (knitting of course)! Other than that it's running Jim to dentist and doctor, but he's doing well. We go to a game room that has penny machines a couple times a week. I got a bike for Christmas and I ride about 5 miles 5 times a week. And then my neighbor and I got to Bingo on Mondays. So keeping busy.......... Oh, a lady about 30 mins away emailed me and I guess at a coffee shop near her (about 25 miles away) they have a group of ladies that meet a Panaeras (a coffee/deli shop) for 2 to 3 hours on Wednesdays. The closest yarn shop near me is about 50 miles away, so I'm thinking of trying out the drive and check out the group. Love, miss ya and God bless! Donna

Thanks! Yes, it will debut on my cruise. You know I do wear shawls a lot. I have shawls for summer and shawls for winter. They are an easy accessory and quick and fun to make.

The shawl is looking really nice. I look forward to seeing what the remaining charts look like knitted onto the shawl.
