I started knitting while still in high school (over 50 years ago) but got away from it until almost 12 years ago when I had a heart attack and had to quit smoking. I needed something to keep my hands busy at night while watching tv. Knitting proved to be the answer....and I haven't slowed down since. I usually have at least 3-4 things on the needles all the time.

Dixie, Many people joined the Spinning KAL who were not spinners at all... and many of them have learned to spin using the info available there... Your comments and other information would really be beneficial to many people here, so I encourage you to join that KAL or maybe the Lace KAL... there are a lot of very nice people here, and we have a good time with our knitting, spinning and other fiber arts. I've been a member here for about 4 1/2 years, and have made many very good friends. I think you would enjoy it. Hope you join us.
Dixie, I got your friend request on Ravelry and read about you on your Rav page. I noticed that you had completed the Master Knitter Program several years ago, and thought you might be interested in the thread here, where some of our knitters are planning on starting that program soon. I'm sure those ladies would love to ask you a few questions about the experience. You have to become a member of the Spinning KAL before you can participate in the discussion. Have a good day!
Dixie, I saw your question in the chat room tonight.. the Stellina is a sparky synthetic fiber that they put into spun yarn... it gives a very nice effect of diamonds all over the yarn. I just knit a pair of socks with this fiber in it, and they turned out fantastic!
