FO: Dragon Melody Shawl

Now, this is one FO that I'm really proud of. I'm getting a bit of a reputation at the shop. People are starting to ask me to make things that they want to have, but not necessarily want to make. Such is the case with this shawl.

Cathy at the at the shop comissioned me to make this shawl for her. I was in the middle of making that devil tank, so the yarn and pattern sat on my vanity for a few weeks before I even looked at it. Then, it took me a while to get into it after I started because it ha… Continue

FO: Eton Scarf

Well, prepare yourself, most of the next FO posts will be Christmas gifts. That means that, in an effort to make everything in time, they may not be anything structurally spectacular. They're not going to be garter stitch washclothes, mind you, but they aren't going to be fingering weight fair isle sweaters either. And a perfect example of this is the scarf I'd made for my FIL.

FO: Chihuahua Sweater

I have a neighbor, Peggy, who's been a realy help to me. She's a stay at home mom also and has been there to watch my girls in an emergency. And, as you kow, emergencies come all too often in my world.

Anyway, I wanted to do a little something to show my gratitude, and, being on the poor side, it needed to be something small. (are you catching the tiny refrences?)

Well, Peggy's got an itty bitty Chihuahua. He's a bitty teeny one too. His name is Thor and he's adorable. I thought a dog sweater… Continue

Cristi: Thanks for commenting on my blog. The yarn was OK. It had a couple of boo-boos, but that can be cut out when it's used. Kisses to the girls! --P

I meant these hats would be easy for you to make quickly. You're such a fast and good knitter, you could knock these out in no time, and Joanie has enough orders here to keep her busy. I'll try to get a photo for you and others who might be interested. The hat can be made larger, too, so it will fit a child. They're really cute. Sometimes she packages them in Chinese take-out cartons! --Peggy

Cristi: My friend Joanie makes and sells baby hats. She uses a basic hat from Itty-Bitty Hats, and then adds decorations. She can make one in an evening or two (depending on the yarn) and then sells them for about $35 each. She selects a really cute button and then puts I-cord squiggles or fleece strips or something on the top. Sometimes she'll do a red tomato with green leaves on the top really cute. I'll see if I can get some photos...for future use, of course. You're down to the wire, I guess. Happy knitting. --Peggy

Cristi: Guess you better get busy! (Whenever I was pg I begged the doctor to tell me it wasn't twins. The first one was in kindergarten when I had the second, who was in nursery school when the second came along. The last one was a surprise, but it worked out well. Two in diapers at the same time? [Shudder!]) Nice you'll be able to spend lots of time with the little darling! --Peggy

I've met only one other person, also a girl, and it was her first name. Her dad was the squiggly one, her mom wanted to name her amanda. We also picked it because of the meaning. It's just a random biblical name, one of those 'Lael begat so and so", but it fit perfecly. I hope it stays rare. Jude is my son's first name (seen pictured) and it's getting more popular. My next son's name is Elias, and whereas it's practically non-existent in America (except for a couple of celeb's babies) it's like #7 in Sweden. I picked it 'cause it was not heared and I like to be able to call my kids and the ones I want answer, instead of 7 Davids and 22 Liams :-)

Hi! I just wanted to comment about your name. Is Lael your middle name or is it part of your first? I love it, and it's my son's middle name. I always have to say hi to people that have it in their name. :o)

I had a busy day, too, and some family stuff going on. It would be difficult to knit for a fourth day. I'm glad the site is continuing! --Peggy
