Lace Weight Yarn

Posted on March 17, 2010 at 6:07pm 4 Comments

Boy howdy...lace weight yarn is teeny tiny. I'm doing my first lace weight project with Alpaca Cloud.

I have question. I love the idea of using the key hole to string the lifeline through but when I do that it gets caught up in my stitch markers. Any advice to avoid that??

thanks and happy knitting everyone

So I really want to make a HP scarf before the next movie. Anyone have any colors/yarns to suggest?

Another Shawl

Posted on August 21, 2009 at 6:37am 4 Comments

I finished my first prayer shawl a little while ago. I had a lot of Suri Dream left over so I made one for my MIL. She used to crochet a lot but recently had a stroke and will never be able to again. I hope this will keep her warm and wrap her in love!

I decided not to block it. I liked how it looked unblocked so I just didn't! Are the blocking police going to come get me?? BTW I found the lace stitch pattern in Traditional… Continue

Happy Birthday to Me!!

Posted on July 18, 2009 at 9:47am 1 Comment

i love celebrating my birthday. I'm always amazed at people who don't like to celebrate. It's a wonderful thing to be alive!!

My husband arranged the day so that I'd have knitting time but it looks like that may not happen. (Kids don't always follow the plan!) But what a sweetie for thinking of it!

Everyone have a fantastic day. It's a great day for all!

Suri Dream shawl

I really liked Kelley's Suri Dream shawl but didn't have access to that pattern. I found one online that was similar and made my first prayer shawl. I sent it off this weekend so I don't know the recipient's reaction yet. I loved knitting this one and I'm going to do a matching one for the recipient's daughter (enough yarn left over) and then one for myself to take to the movies!…

Alicia,
Sorry I missed St. Paddy's Day. I was in the pit again, awash
with pain and lack of brain. Seeing your sweet face when I
logged onto my page perked me up. I hope things are going
well for you.

I have heard of Farscape but don't think I have seen it yet. I'll have to add it to my Queue.

Nice to meet another Sci Fi knitter too!

I just finished up season 1 of SG1 and have the first disc of season 2 waiting to be watched.

I get them from Netflix - love renting discs from there.

that is a beautiful shawl . I really don't know much about knitting but is that a lacy stich pattern? How long did it take you to knit it and was it difficult for a beginner? thanks, ellie

Hi Alicia, I always make EZ's tom ten jacket for babies. After you make one you will realize that you can use this pattern for any size child or adult. It's a modular design so you only have to know the appx. chest size. For infants I make it with baby weight yarn and about a size 5 needle. You can find the pattern in "The Opinionated Knitter". It's also very very easy.
