I just bought the book and I wanted to make a shawl for my flower girl, who will be 8 in August. My wedding is in the fall, and the colors are all autumny colors you can think of. Below is a picture of her dress (as well as mine), does anyone have a suggestion in which shawl I should knit up? And what kind/color yarn I should use!?!?! I need to make a decision fast!!!!

Hi everyone, I am very excited to join your group. I have just finished the TKGA Masters program and I am ready to start knitting some projects for myself and friends. I have been reading your blogs, and the pictures of the shawls completed are BEAUTIFUL. I cant wait to get started. Sincerely, A.

To mariane martin:
I already knit in the continental style so that's not my problem! You should see what I did to my yarn today!! *sigh*

If you are a beginner maybe learning to knit continental style would help you a less fingertip is involved.

So I'm finished with the lace stole and it turned out very nicely, even if I do say so myself. It's in a light peach color and is very feminine. It's going to a dear friend who has never had someone make something for her (isn't that sad???).

I've discovered that the technical part of lace knitting...the actual pattern...isn't too difficult. (Remember that I'm a beginner knitter.) The problem I'm having now is handling the lace weight yarn. I love it so I'm determined to use it on my shawl pattern from the book, but it's so tiny that it's difficult for me to work with. Part of my problem is neuropathy in my fingers causing little or no feeling in the tips but that shouldn't be that influential, I don't think. I've got some fingering weight yarn, too, and that's just as difficult to manage, so I'd really like to try the lace weight in the shawl.

Does anyone have any tips for working with such fine yarn?

I did the Michelle shawl in five days, the Bigfoot in five days, and the faster-version Julia in two days in the first two weeks of being in this group: not to brag, just to say, I think these patterns work up quickly. I suddenly realized I hadn't said I'd finished the Michelle, where I'm on the fifth shawl since I'd mentioned working on it.
