I’m waiting very impatiently waiting for my book ;-), I ordered it a whole 7 days ago. Although I do have my yarn, its bare and I want to dye it. I’ve never dyed before. Should I dye the yarn before I start knitting or after its done? Any suggestions?

I got the book this week and have chosen the shawl on page 38. I am still making my mind up about the yarn.

Ordered my book last night...can hardly wait to get it so I know what supplies I need to buy. I have crocheted more shawls than I can shake a stick at but have never knitted one. Of course, I've only been knitting since Christmas, so that's not saying much! LOL I am hoping that lace knitting won't be too hard to learn; I'm rather apprehensive about it but I can't make basic hats and scarves forever. Besides, if I can master knitting lace shawls, I have a bunch of cheap Christmas presents for next year! LOL Will keep you all posted on what I decide to do.

I really enjoyed the shawl podcast also. I wouldn't have attempted this knit-along if it wasn't for the inspiration I got from it.

I usually design my own lace pattern for the shawls that I make. Currently, I'm working on a brown mohair as one of my wip's. I recently purchased Myrna Stahman's Farose shawls and seaman's scarves and my next shawl will be a Farose style. I'm looking forward to selecting a KP's yarn when I'm ready to begin. I've not yet looked thru the recommended book here, but will soon. Shawls are my favorite, so versitile and I really enjoyed the shawl podcast ~ just about everything in it was exactly my sentiments also!

I have this book and started a shawl a couple of about a week ago. So far so good. My stitch counts on the end are off by one stitch, but that seems to always be the case for me. I am doing the clover shawl in a lovely lavendar shawl. Admittedly I bought the yarn from a local yarn shop. But now that the new colors for the lace yarn from knitpicks is out I will certainly be ordering some for my next lace shawl. So much to knit so little time.

I bought this book while we were evacuated from last Fall's fires in Lake Arrowhead, CA. We were holed up in Burbank, where I visited Unwind, which is a very, very nice shop (and so is the Stephanie, the owner). I got Rio de la Plata sock yarn to make one of the scarves in the book but I haven't started it yet. I'm just finishing a mystery shawl and am ready to begin something else, probably one from Alison's book. I'll let you know when I'm into it. Mary

I just started a shawl. Using the feather and fan pattern from Knit Picks.I hope it turns out well. I always loved the look of lace ,but was affraid to try it. Wish me good luck. Seems like I'm on my way to the book store.

I just ordered the book. I admit my first lace project has been on hold indefinitely, but I think it's time to try again. Has anyone tried any of the easy shawls yet and can recommend one for a new shawl knitter?
