Mandy, right now I'm trying to get Christmas stockings done. I have 3 down and 2 to go. Then I have a couple of hats to make, but if I have time I plan to make some Grumpies, the Lumps of Coal to stuff in mine own kids stockings. Please keep in mind, mine are all adults.
I attempted to make unicorns for my girls for Christmas.  Sadly, I wasn't able to purchase the materials until about a week before Christmas and I am a horribly slow crocheter.  I am still working on them though and hope to finish the first soon.  I am using the Clop and Ali pattern from Crochet World Magazine and changing the colors up a bit and adding a bit of shine.  I'm also making necklaces to go with the unicorns.
I know those sweet girls of yours will love them as soon as they get them! I did manage to get all 5 stockings again but had to give my boys IOUs for Christmas. One just needs blocking, the second I had to start over because my gauge was off. So glad I started over. It looks so much better. Then 2 more IOUs. A birthday present for my DDIL and then starting the 2011 stockings. I don't want to be stuck doing them all in a short amount of time again.
Thanks Cheyrl.  Wow, you work quickly.  That's a great idea to start them this early. lol  I don't like being stuck on a short time limit either.  It makes me nervous and I feel I may disappoint.
I tend to work best under pressure, but it meant I didn't do any other Christmas knitting and I really missed it. I didn't like doing IOUs but I am enjoying getting them done now.
I usually do well under pressure when things are mandatory.  I'm just a very slow crocheter lol.  So I have learned that I really should start projects a month or so in advance to make sure that I'm not trying to crochet (or soon, knit) every waking minute of the day and well into the night trying to get them done.  I'm sure your gifts are well worth the wait.

well i didnt get a single thing done! NOTHING! I will start next yrs gifts in August!! Not kidding either, LOL..

I made a dress for my 4yr old..then realized after i finished the stomach area that i needed two more skeins of yarn! Went to the local YS and they didnt even sell Berroco yarn..crazy..so still havent found it. But will probably have to order online..hate doing that because you never know what it will look like :O(

Mandy, if you already know the specific yarn, it's not too bad ordering online. If you are looking for a specific dye lot you might check to see if anyone on Ravelry has it in their stash.
Mandy: If you have all of the specifics of the yarn, the dye lot color way and all, it should be fairly easy to hunt it down online, unless it's an odd or rare color.  Shopping online can be really expensive though.  You might try this website if you haven't already http://berroco.com/ .  You should be able to hunt down the exact yarn type there.  I definitely understand why you'd like to shop at the local YS better though.  Actually being able to see the yarn and be assured that it is exact is nice, not to mention the lucky sales that some YS's have.
our local yarn shop stinks! They have no yarn...the shelves are bare all the time..they never have the needle sizes i need either. I dont know how they stay in business!
yeah, im going to check rav first..havent had time to even look yet..between school and kids its hard to get online long enough to do anything!
