I have made a couple of sweaters from the book, in worsted weight... While on holidays in FL. I found the exact colour of blue I had been looking for -- so, home it came and I started my test gauge swatch...... It is sock weight and I am doing a sweater out of this. It is turning out great, but I am concerned about the neckline..... Has anyone else been silly enough (okay, dumb enough) to use a fine yarn? Anyone?????

Thanks,
Alicorn

Just joined - I've restarted my 1st sweater FOUR time now - got the book at the library this week and then saw this Knit-along!

I plan to start a sampler this weekend because I naturally try to knit 'like a guy' (Red Green fan) and I figure I'd better slow down and get some idea of "gauge". I also have a fear of cables even though I have never tried one.

Not sure - but I will likely choose a basic crew neck - probably in a tweedy yarn.

I love this book. I did the sampler myself a year or so ago, then I taught it as a class over lunches in the place where I worked. I never did the sweater, but the girls who took the class both finished sweaters.

I have started my sampler from this book. The sampler is going well and I am knitting it in the round on circular needles. I need some more 4 ply yarn.
What 4 ply yarn is available on KnitPicks? I have to buy some more. If you have any ideas let me know. What yarn did you use on your sampler if you made one or if you are making a sampler I'd like to know? I started mine with a scrap but will need to add to it, that's why I am asking. Also I would like to add a question, "Why are the ply's not listed with the yarn always?" Am I just suppose to know, how can I know, do I guess or pull my yarn apart? It seems that would be a bit on the tedious side.

Yea!!!! my Sweater Workshop book came today. I'm going to read after dinner, find some yarn from my stash and start the sampler. I was surprised how big the book is and how thick too. I'll be asking for help most likely. Socks are my usual project. I'll start with the Basic Sweater. It'll take me until next fall to finish.

Hi! I need some help here. I am doing the EPS for a raglan sweater. Most sweaters are pulled in at the bottom, but I need to increase at the bottom and decrease just before the waist. Has anyone done this? Any ideas? Thanks, Karen from Texas

Greetings, I am new here.

I received my Sweater Workshop book from my mom this last holiday. I am anxious to get started. I have done some reading. I made the needle case from the Equip Yourself chapter, page 82. I made it from odds and ends scrap fabric I had stashed away. The needle case turned out nicely. I am real proud to have it because I travel a lot with my knitting. I have already taken it out of town.

I would like to knit the sampler first. Although I do have some knitting skill, I want to make sure that I do things right from the start of the book.
I am going to look for some yarn and work this project before I do my sweater.

I think I will do the Sleeveless U-Neck page 136 first. I want something summery. I am not sure which yarn to use and will look at the knitpicks sight to find some. I would like to try and knit this in the round.

It seems as though the rest of the group has some comments and I quckly read through them before adding this comment.
