To all:

My FLS (February Lady's Sweater) is done (yaay!) and I'm ready to sew on the buttons. The problem is that I'm not sure how. Should I use the same yarn that I used to knit the sweater to sew on the buttons? Or should I use thread? I've never sewn buttons onto knit garments.

  Any help would be appreciated.

  Thanks,

Oh, Buffy, I hate to give my routine lawyer answer, but it depends. It depends on the strength of your yarn. I also suggest using backing buttons or grosgrain band on the back side of the band. Just my personal preference. Clear buttons make great backing buttons though sometimes hard to find.
I agree with Cheryl..I use both grosgrain and backing button...
Thank you both. I think I will go look for backing buttons. And probably use thread rather than yarn, but we will see.
Keep us posted!

I am sure you will do just fine hon...

I use either the yarn I knitted item with usually matches best or thread ..but either will work.
