This weekend I dyed a batch of Leicester Longwool that I'd had a while... the fiber looks marvelous!

This afternoon I tried spinning this long stuff!  And I mean it is long... the shortest lengths are at least 6" long... and some are evenlonger.  It wants to be spun finely... it will not go thick at all.  It was so hard to spin that I tried making a rolag and that was a little bit better, but still difficult... So I just finished carding the whole pile... well it's only 10 oz. and fits into a gallon zip lock baggie...Here is the first part of the spinning I did today... this will be a very slow process.

It's beautiful! Looks like you're avoiding building up hills and valleys on your bobbin! It's such a beautiful, rich color and looks so silky!
Peggy, it is really difficult for it not to look silky... there is a bit of hairiness to it... but he fiber is so very long, that is won't spin any other way.
That is coming out so pretty! Love, love, love the color.
So glad you like it.
Beautiful color, you and peggy and so many others are doing such great jobs of spinning and the results, are wonderful. Irene
Thanks Irene... I picked those colors.. but did not think they would come out quite so vivid... I will try to get a skein spun in the next day or so...
We have a great group of spinners: experienced experts, just starting out and everything in between. This is s great group! I've already learned a lot, just in the few days since we started!
I totally agree... I'm going to learn a lot here... wonderful group of spinners.

i'm working on a SW BFL right now and it's wonderful to spin with!
Good work! I'm off to ply my Corriedale so I can post a photo!
Christina, Your skeins are beautiful... I love the colors and the texture created by the spinning... a smooth looking yarn.
Good job! I probably won't have anything to post for a while.
