Knitting Community

For those of you who don't know Kate has left Knit Picks and has also left the Knit Picks community. She will be certainly be missed. Unfortunately when Kate left the community, it deleted any discussions she had started. This was not her intention. So here is a new "Quesions" discussion area. So please leave new [and old] questions here. In no time at all, we will have this discussion filled with tons of information. So if there is a question that was discussed before and you need a refresher please post again and someone will jump in as usual.

Hear, hear!
Is it normal for the yarn to keep breaking while you spin? This has been driving me crazy ever since I started a few days ago. Can anyone tell me how to stop that from happening?
It is probably from either under spin or over spin.
I agree, but underspinning is more likely. It has to get really twisted tight for it to break that way. The spindle drops on the floor or the fiber disappears into the orifice, leaving you with unspun fiber in your hand. Look at the end of the fiber you just finished spinning and see if it's fairly loose or if it's pinched, keeping in mind that it will loosen once the tension is taken off. If it's underspun, you need to either provide more fiber or not draft so thinly, at least until you get the hang of what you're doing. Anyone else have any suggestions?
That would happen to me mine would break if I was spinning it to much and it was thin. Snap it would go. I think your suggestions were right on Peggy.
