Here's some yarn I've been spinning during lambing season. It's 100% Romney from our own sheep and I've spun 3 full bobbins. I spun it fairly fine to give me options as I didn't have a project in mind at the time. I may make a 2 ply and use it for a shawl or 3 ply and use it for socks.
I'm down to my last ewe to lamb out so lets talk about having a SPIN-IN.
Here's a picture of some Rambouillet combed top that I just received back from processing. I bought the fleeces a couple of years ago for $5 each then had them processed this winter. If shipping wasn't so expensive I'd send more fiber to be processed!
To celebrate the end of lambing (it's as good an excuse as any) I treated myself to 8oz of CVM that I found on ebay this morning!! Aren't I bad!!

Oh, I hope she will be OK... at least she delivered the calf.
Permalink Reply by Julie Hartford on April 20, 2012 at 5:32pm Well I'm glad to say that after the vet gave our cow some iv calcium she's looking much better and back on her feet again. Got to keep a close eye on her for the next couple of days though. She's a Jersey and the sweetest cow you could ever meet. The calf is really cute!! I'll try to get some pics posted of him tomorrow, providing nothing else happens LOL.
So glad she is doing better. Hope this continues. Love those sweet animals.

Wow, Julie, Sounds like this was a tough year for you. I know my friends who have goats or sheep are always relieved when everything goes well with this process... and now I know why.
Permalink Reply by Julie Hartford on April 15, 2012 at 7:58pm Yes there's lots that can go wrong but usually doesn't. I'm just glad I had some experience under my belt before this year.
Experience IS good in cases like this.
Permalink Reply by wendy on April 15, 2012 at 8:34pm Oh my goodness! That is a lot to deal with. You must be a very strong woman to deal with all of this.
Permalink Reply by Julie Hartford on April 16, 2012 at 8:50am The last ewe lambed out this morning. I had to tube feed her lambs because at this point she has no milk! Hopefully her milk will let down and I won't have to bottle raise them. I don't know about being strong - crazy maybe - to be crawling around in manure and amniotic fluid at my age when I could be in the house spinning by the fire. I am a BIG animal lover though and I never get tired of seeing new life. I'm sure whipped though and glad it's all over for this year.
You sound like such a wonderful kind person. Your mind and heart are certainly in the right place. I would love to meet you some day.
