Are you blending fiber for spinning? What fibers are you blending? Do you blend for color or for fiber content? What method do you use?

I plan on using my drum carder to blend some merino roving with alpaca. Just for fun!

that's a beauty! deep envy here. what a fun tool ;-)
It's really only half mine, but right now, I have custody!
Having custody is good!
Custody even for awhile has got to be a good thing. It is so beautiful.
A few months ago, I did some blending using my hand cards... My DD has sent me a big box of fibers (cashmere, camel down, and yak) and also some Mulbewrry silk. I blended them, and here is what I got.

Have you spun any of them yet? What effect were you hoping for, or did you do it just for fun/experience?
Oh, my goodness!! Would that ever be fun!! I'd blend for color half the time- and for fiber the other half. Then sometimes I'd do for both. :) AS IF!! Maybe someday I'll have an opportunity to play with one of those! :) Congratulations on half ownership. That's wonderful.
I want to see what happens to the merino when it's mixed with alpaca.
I have some merino/alpaca blend roving. It's luscious!
Two fibers with good but different characterics--sounds like a winner to me!
I purchased KPs Woodsy Wool Roving Pack, a blending hackle and combs to try my hand at blending but have yet to make the time to try it. I'm also a little nervous because I have never used the tools (hackle/combs) before.

Now just to build up the nerve. We will be here cheering for you!
