Are you ready to cast-on and begin your ribbing? (Week Two of Knittin' Mittens)

I wanted to be sure that you got off to a good start so I made two videos' worth of recording. Lots of information and detail.

And, Part Two

Enjoy your knitting!

Kelley, some people are worried about gauge. Could you please tell us what gauge we should be getting? Should we be using a gauge for 40 sts that would fit around our hands? I have rather large hands for a woman. The circumference around my knuckles is 8". If I am casting on 40 sts I would think I would want to have a gauge of 20sts/4". But if I should have a circumference of 7" I think I would want my gauge to be more like 23sts/4". Am I correct? ♥cheryl
Hi Cheryl,

I decided that this was an important enough note to go ahead and begin a new Discussion Thread.
Kelley, I saw that. I think it is excellent to have that thread. You have really attracted a lot of new people with this KAL. Congratulations. ♥c
Yes! Isn't it fun to meet so many new people!
I finished my 2 inches of ribbing tonight. This is the first time I have tried magic loop but I think I like it. I normally knit with 2 circs so it's not that much different. Of course when I do socks I do them 2 at a time so I hope I manage to make the 2nd mitten when this is done!
Naomi, you can do 2 at a time on ML also. ♥c
Oooh that would be perfect! As soon as I get home from work tonight I'm going to research and start on that. Thanks Cheryl!
Hey, Naomi, that's why we are all here, to help each other. ♥c
Cheryl I got it! Of course it didn't go nearly as well as the first one and I had to frog and start over once but then I got it figured out. Thanks for suggesting it!
I'm so glad you were able to figure it out! ♥c

Thank
