Hi friends!  I have a question about what increase to use.  I usually use a make one ( i prefer to do a m1 left, unless of course it is a directional pattern that specifies left or right.  But I am really liking the lifted loop increase, where you knit into the base of the next stitch  (or into the loop 2 stitches below on the RHN for a left leaner).

I am finding it much easier and quicker, and the increase is quite invisible.  I guess if i WANT the inc to show more, i would choose the m1 inc.

So my question is, when else would i NOT want to use this increase? when is the make one increase better to use than the lifted loop increase?

I guess i am wondering why the M1 is considered a good general increase, when i presonally find it more fussy to execute, when compared to the lifted loop.  But that might justy be peculiar to my knitting style.

Thanks! Happpy knitting!

Jenny, I am no expert by any means. But I do remember at a knitting guild meeting earlier this year a woman who was an expert at knitting said the increase you do is a much better increase for the very reason you do it. It is invisible. I guess it would all depend on the pattern and what the look is you are trying to achieve.
Thanks, that is what i am thinking!!
I tend to use the M1 and then knit through the back loop to tighten it up a bit. It looks much cleaner to me :)
Ya, i also like the M1 Left, where you knit TBL rather than the M1R & knit through the front.

But when you say that it looks much cleaner, do you mean when compared to the M1R, or compared to the lifted loop increase? That is what i am trying to figure out, and which i like better overall, and which is cleaner/more invisible, etc.
