I'm definitely up for the KAL idea.  My daughter wants this sweater -- we're still at the yarn selection stage.  What size needles will you be using?

Alpaca yarn tends to stretch vertically if you knit a sweater with it. I don't know how you allow for it as you get gauge.

I think the original sweater is knit in alpaca and is knit sideways.

Ooohhh..... that is one on my wish list! But I'm not sure when or if I will get to it. So many things I want to knit and so little time!

Okay, I'll be in the car for two hours today, so I'll bring the sweater along. I got gauge on size five needles, if that helps anyone.

I've almost finished the lace part. Tip: In my expirience, alpaca is really sticky on the zepher needles. It may be different with the harmonys, but your best bet would probably be Nickle-plated.

IMO, I always use NP. I might use wood every now and then, and very, very rarely do I use any sort of plastics. But that is not to say I haven't changed over the years. I used to favor wood.

I totally agree... about 90% of my projects are completed on NP... they are my go to needle!
