By December 24, this thread will be the most beautiful collection of knitted items ever gathered.

I'm so excited at the thought of getting to finish an item and then get lots of oohs and ahhhs from people before I even wrap it. I'm even MORE excited to see what other people finish to give away!

I'll start us off, many of you have seen this one already--I finished a toilet paper cozy for my little brother and his new bride. It's a spicy tuna roll.

I'm from "Northern Virginia". I went to a girl's college near Richmond, the heart of the Confederacy. NO one considered me a Southerner! hahaha Must admit I don't talk like one either. But it's very easy to slide into that 'relaxed' manner of speech. Cheryl, you are not without your own 'southern' speech patterns. You two plus Peggy from the West! What a combo. It was great.
When I first heard Cheryl talk, I thought it was me for a minute, until she started talking about her Christmas stockings... I thought that was what I sounded like - oooh boy! --S
I was born and raised in WV by a dad from VA... I lived my first 28 years in WV, then spent 10 years in KY... then back to WV for a few years, and now I live in southeastern OH (still technically Appalachia)... I'm doomed to talk like this forever! --S
Where did you live in WV? My grandmother was from WV and I lived there briefly many years ago. And Cheryl, you talk Texas Southern if not Southern Belle. For northerners, it's the same. For those who know, it's different. It's not like being from Boston! Or Wisconsin!
Marta,
I lived in the Huntington area... just north of KY.
Some of my family lived in Charleston, but my granny was from Pickens, down the ridge from Helvetia. I lived northwest of Weston for a bit. Just beyond Pickle Street! hahaha You have to love naming conventions in WV. Certainly far more interesting than most states.... And you have a great accent! Nothing wrong with it at all. As Cheryl said, not 'doomed', and I say 'blessed'.....
Sort of like when I listen to James Lee Burke's Dave Robicheaux series? This character is from my father's home town, New Iberia, LA but Will Patton reads it. I like his readings, but is definitely not a Louisiana accent. I mean a Charleston, SC accent just isn't the same as Southern Louisiana (and I don't mean New Orleans which is another accent!)
Isn't it funny, how when you are FROM that area, you really hear the differences that to others are imperceptable? --S
That's not "doomed", that's Susan.
Yes, that is how I talk! --S
Marta, mine is much more a Texas accent than Southern with a hint of Louisiana. My dad was from Southern Louisiana and he used to say anything above I-10 was Yankee land (Before I-10, it was anything above US 90!)
Hi, The Queen of the Teche, how many times we went there to visit an Aunt,we would go visit all over, how neat a town it was,so you kept some of that accent, even after 38 years in Tx I am told I have that La. accent. how can that be I feel like Tx by now. Irene
