Knitting Community

By December 24, this thread will be the most beautiful collection of knitted items ever gathered.

I'm so excited at the thought of getting to finish an item and then get lots of oohs and ahhhs from people before I even wrap it. I'm even MORE excited to see what other people finish to give away!

I'll start us off, many of you have seen this one already--I finished a toilet paper cozy for my little brother and his new bride. It's a spicy tuna roll.

Merry, what about the cute dog hat on the front of Nicky Epstein's new book, A Kiss in Every Stitch?
I found a bunch of free dog patterns on Ravelry. But I'm knitting for Pomeranians, not Weimeraners!
A coworkers DD has just opened a pet store where she sells all healthy/natural foods, toys etc. Many of the products she has are also ones that a percentage of the sale goes to a charity. My coworker asked me if I could come up with a pattern for a dog sweater--organic fiber of course-to make, for which her daughter would be happy to pay me! Geepers...I don';t have a dog--any ideas on what would make a good warm sweater?
Mary, check out the book I pointed Merry to. It has several cute patterns.
I have a dog coat pattern, but it wasn't big enough for my Weimeraner, so I doubt it would be big enough for your two! --S
What does your dog coat pattern look like, Susan? I've been on the net researching patterns since about 3 or 4pm today. I can't make up my mind. My best friend thinks I should make one that just pops over their heads, but I remember trying to do that with my dog and her claws would get stuck in the knitting in the longer part of the leg. I'm thinking these 2 might be too wiggly yet for that. On the other hand, trying to get them to hold still long enough for a person to fasten a couple of buttons or velcro might be difficult, too, at this point. They are only about 7 mo. old or so.(and their 2 parents are high-strung, who happened to pick highly-strung dogs.) It's confusing. It wouldn't matter so much if it were not so close to Christmas. hmmmm.....
Merry,
The one I used required that you put the dogs front paws through the little leg holes... that was the reason I didn't try to adapt it for a big dog like my Weimeraner. --S
Thanks for your input, Susan!
