By December 24, this thread will be the most beautiful collection of knitted items ever gathered.

I'm so excited at the thought of getting to finish an item and then get lots of oohs and ahhhs from people before I even wrap it. I'm even MORE excited to see what other people finish to give away!

I'll start us off, many of you have seen this one already--I finished a toilet paper cozy for my little brother and his new bride. It's a spicy tuna roll.

Thanks! I think you have something there.... I love bright and clear colors and you may be right that they perk me up, especially on overcast dull days. Whatever the reason, I've been on a tear.....
Hi guys!
Here is my jolly old elf - aka the santa bag, a wonderful design from Hand Made Awards - pattern is a free download on Ravelry HERE.

I knit mine in palette clover & petal and in the round to avoid seaming! This guy will be filled with candy canes come December!

Susan,
How totally cute! I'll have to check out that pattern! --S
The website was down when I went to check on the pattern. I'm trying to figure out how you fill him up! Just wonderful knitting, as usual, Susan. His nose made me smile. This is one cute decoration that the kids would fight over. Also love your treadle sewing machine. I learned how to sew on one of them and could go about fifty miles an hour :)
Thanks Susan, Angel & Stacey!!!

I went back to edit original post, but it timed out... :( whoops!
here's the back of the bag. it's a little drawstring pouch you can fill with just about anything!

As usual, you have out done yourself! I think this would be great for my 4 year old great niece.
It would be great stuffed with all sorts of little goodies - and you could just as easily make a Mrs. Claus too!
thanks Cheryl!!!

Angel, I remember using my grandmother's treadle but unfortunately there were so many of us it was something I didn't get.
Oh, Cheryl, you know how fun it was to do the foot action. The young girls can't seem to figure out how to work that. I don't know what happened to my mom's. But when I was in high school I bought my own Singer electric on payments. I used to be a sewing fiend like I am a knitting fiend now :)
you guys may chuckle but-in 8th grade we actually used treadle sewing machine in home ec class. The school had been the old high school until it became too crowded and the upper classmen got sent to a regional HS. What fun that was ! no electric ones available to use..it was pretty cool..
When I took my spinning class in Sept, we were given a tour of the facility they were using for teaching these domestic arts (sewing, quilting, knitting, spinning). The room teaching sewing used ONLY treadle sewing machines - all antiques. I have a group of photos of them on my page.

That is how I learned, too. We had my grandmothers Singer Treadle Sewing machine with the date 1910 in the footplate. --S
When I saw that picture in your blog, I couldn't believe that she had so many beautiful specimens. I have an old antique portable and I have an old treadle but I wish I had a working treadle model.
