By December 24, this thread will be the most beautiful collection of knitted items ever gathered.

I'm so excited at the thought of getting to finish an item and then get lots of oohs and ahhhs from people before I even wrap it. I'm even MORE excited to see what other people finish to give away!

I'll start us off, many of you have seen this one already--I finished a toilet paper cozy for my little brother and his new bride. It's a spicy tuna roll.

Okay, Bonnie, you can't show us something so beautiful without telling what the patterns are. We are a bunch of copy cats!
Finally some photos of some of my finished work....
First the number one Ho Ho Hat for my daughter's Pomeranians.... This is going for a test fitting before I make the second one. I did a single crochet chain about 20 inches long, folded it in half and sewed one on each side of the hat. The hat is stuffed with fiberfill so it sits up between the dog's ears. The ties go in front of and behind the ear on each side and come together to tie under the chin. I thought that would stabilize the hat between the ears without it falling foward or backward. We'll see.....

Second is a Lucy Hat (KnitPicks pattern) for my daughter made from Plum Twirl (now discontinued--boohoo). She already has one in Rust and it is her favorite hat, period.

Third is a Nutmeg Hat (from Berroco #288, Blackstone Tweed booklet) for one daughter-in-law made from KnitPicks City Tweed HW in Cottontail. I blocked it over a plate and must say it made a huge difference in the appearance of the hat.

Marta, the little doggie Ho Ho hat is wonderful! and the Lucy hat is great, yoo. The Nutmeg hat in City Tweed is wonderful, too. I just the way City Tweed looks knitted up in a project. It gives a classic look to everything you use it for. --S
Thanks, Susan. I just mailed the Ho Ho Hat off to LA. I should know by the beginning of next week if it will work as I imagined it. Every time I looked at the little hat I just burst out laughing! So if nothing else it will have provided me with a giant October dose of good laughs. Not such a bad thing for a one night project!

I'm glad I squirreled away some Twirl. I made one of these hats for my best knitting/reading buddy when she was helping me out with a health crisis. I love the pattern--so simple--yet it's a super good looking hat. Too bad Twirl went to KP Yarn Heaven....

I'm with you on City Tweed. I have a big bin of it now! hahah I keep changing my mind about who gets what color and what pattern! I want it ALL!
It is really hard not to be selfish with City Tweed - I really liked Twirl, too. --S
Nice hats; clever idea to block over a plate. It gives it a very nice finished look.
I wish I could claim credit for the idea, but I read many of the posts on Ravelry about the hat before finishing it. I had tried it on before washing/blocking and thought it looked awful on me (which it did), but using the plate to shape the top made it sit on my head quite differently. So first looks aren't always the way it has to be! I'm making several of these. It's not mindless knitting, but worth the focused time. Really pretty in City Tweed HW.
Everyone of those is great. You are going to have some Merry Christmas.
Thanks, Cheryl.... I have lots more to finish! At least I feel like I have a handle on the gift knitting now. Not trying to do stuff for everyone and constantly changing my 'to do' list. It's good that no one knows or expects anything so I can do whatever I feel like. Takes all the pressure away.... I like that!
Yes, because knitting is supposed to relieve stress not cause it.
Marta,
Good game plan... don't let them know what they are getting... it they get a knitted gift, great! If they don't ... maybe next year! --S
I know the feeling MArta..I was very overwhelmed when I made a list of "want to makes"..then I took a breath and started to knit. It feels really good to say that most of my stuff is done, or at least I have a running start anyway-the afghan will take a while yet, but honey's Eeyore is ready to stuff, and my DS's scarf is halfway there. All my stockings are done (just names to go ) and most of the gifts for my coworkers are done. (weehah!) I should pout some pics on huh? Some of the gifts were made using the yarn I got in my lucky finds..even better!
