By December 24, this thread will be the most beautiful collection of knitted items ever gathered.

I'm so excited at the thought of getting to finish an item and then get lots of oohs and ahhhs from people before I even wrap it. I'm even MORE excited to see what other people finish to give away!

I'll start us off, many of you have seen this one already--I finished a toilet paper cozy for my little brother and his new bride. It's a spicy tuna roll.

I did that on the Mr. F I made for my great nephew. I just kept doing a satin stitch over and over again to give it the appearance of safety eyes.
Once again, thank you for the information on safety eyes you sent - I am terrible at embroidery & my guys look much better with their safety eyes.

Mo, the Grass Guy

I like the safety eyes on him! He will go well with Emo and Fredrick.
He's so cute!!!
Wouldn't grass guy be great @ Easter?!?!?? you could hide a bunch of these cuties along w/eggs for a really fun hunt!

I was thinking along the same lines. Get one of those big clay saucers for plants, put in some potting soil and grass seed; and when the grass gets tall, put some of these guys in. Would make a great Easter centerpiece. I love this thread and am getting lots of great ideas!
That would be really cute, Angel.
Aww, thanks guys! He's one of my fave patterns - I've made 3 or 4 so far, super quick. I hadn't thought about for Easter though! I was thinking about making some Grass Guys through the seasons though ;)
Oooh, that would be cute too.
I need help this is for my 16 year old granddaughter, she hurt her ankle in a volley ball game last week and it is really bad, she is to have surgery, what I need help with how to make a sock for over her toes and all the bandages or cast. Do I just use a sock pattern and use bigger needles and heavy yarn???? don't know where to start. Thanks to all Sharon
Sharon,
That is exactly what I would do. There are several free patterns on the Lion Brand site that call for worsted weight yarn. I wouldn't go above worsted weight yarn, and I would get something washable and in some of her favorite colors. Make it in the largest size you can to stretch over the cast or bandages.. and be sure it is plenty large to fit over the whole thing. You might even make a tube type socks without an actual heel so that it will be stretchy... I would make it in a man's size and use about a size 7 needle ought to work. I have made some of these as slipper socks and they come out fine. Hope she does well... I know active teens do not like to be laid up with injuries. Let us know is you need more help finding a pattern. If it were me, I determine the size you need, do a swatch and just start knitting. Also, you might try stripes or something to make they look nice. --Susan
Thanks for the suggestions when I get home tonight will start some swatchs and see what I come up with, great idea a tube sock did not think of that. Thanks again, will let you know. Sharon
Good luck with this Sharon... we have to take good care of these grandchildren. I would probably be doing the same thing. Be sure whatever yarn you use is washable.. she may have that cast/bandage on several weeks, and she will want to wash the socks, since they won't be going into a pair of shoes.

I've knit a pair of these socks in less than a weekend, just knitting in the evenings... they go very fast on larger needles and with heavier yarn. Susan
