I'm dying.  I have the cutest pattern for a crocheted pig, but the pattern is awful.  I don't believe for one minute that the pattern used for the display is anything like the one they give you.
Can anyone help me figure out how to make a ball shape, because I keep getting a disk shape that pleats when I start decreasing.  I figured out the snout, (also not covered in the pattern) I'm kind of winging it, using the pattern as more of a guideline.

I just made this penguin from a Lion Brand pattern. As you can see she is round. I did notice the decrease stitches seemed real obvious to me, but once she was stuffed, you can't tell a thing. Maybe this would be a good pattern for you to follow.

Thanks, I think I might, as long as I remember to change the stitches for the snout, I think that's about the right shape. (:
I gave a link to the pattern, the decreases are a mirror, but no, I think the increases may be too fast. It looks more like a disc right now than anything else, and it appears that it's going to pucker the same way the first one I tried did.

I did put it in, but it appears to not be there... trying again, I may have to send it broken up
The instructions are really odd. I would use the Penguin pattern that Anna provided for the most part. I would probably go with rounds 1 and 2, then do a sc in each stitch for two or three rounds for the snout and then pick back up at round 3 in the pattern instructions. Most amigurumi that I have done follow the basic increase by multiples of 6 like in the penguin pattern.
Yeah, I did the first 2 rounds, but then I did a front loop only for the next round, and then a full stitch for the next, and a back loop only for the next, and it did really well for the snout. (:
I give up on that pattern, I had to cobble together the whole thing! I think the only thing I didn't have trouble with were the ears! So now, I'm going to use the other pattern, and write the fixes I made for the snout, and the fixes I made for the wings and, oh yeah, I haven't tried the legs yet!
Thanks guys, I really thought it was me at first.
I don't even know what the word means. I saw the Flying pig, and _had_ to make it! I'm in the simple- intermediate stage in both knitting and crochet. The only good thing is, I have enough information, and imagination to mix and match aspects of different patterns, or to adjust a pattern to what I want.
Thanks, I think I might get a little more into it after the holidays. I don't really have a lot of call to make animals, my kids are older, and boys. Most of my friends either have no kids, or have kids the same age as mine. I'm waiting for baby cousins... my family seems to be good at making those. It's almost time for the next generation... (:
Super vids. I just watched how she did the magic loop and she made it look so easy. I'm ready to try it.
