Mystery KAL: Week 10 Pattern Download

Congratulations, colorworkers, you've made it through the entire chart to Week 10! Give yourselves a big pat on the back! Now it's time to do it all again. Please don't kill me! That's right, the purl row you did last week is a fold, and you've just completed one side of your mystery project. Instead of releasing the second side week by week (how silly would that be?), this week's pattern is all the directions in one place with a big chart. I've included both a black & white and color version, so you can take your pick. If you're just now joining the KAL, this is the only pattern download you need. If you're caught up through Week 9, you will follow the directions starting where is says "Colorwork Chart: Side 2". Hopefully that isn't too confusing.

Now here's where it gets fun: This is your chance for a do-over if you aren't totally happy with your color combo. Both sides won't show at the same time, so they don't need to be identical. Was there one section that was bugging you that you wish you had done differently? Now is your chance! The learning doesn't have to stop with the weekly installments. I think I am going to take my own advice and switch out a few colors. It's pretty good as-is, but I'd like the foreground of the yellow-orange part to 'pop' more. My solution is to try Salsa Heather or Autumn Heather instead of Brindle Heather and to replace Clover with Edamame. I haven't gotten to them yet, so I haven't formally changed the colors in the pattern. If you're using my color combo feel free to do the same, or feel free to keep them as-is. It's totally up to you. This is why I always recommend you order a few extra colors for any colorwork project--you just don't know for sure how they'll work until you see them in action. In this case, I swatched my colors, but I didn't mirror the swatch and the mirroring made a slight difference in the overall perception. This project has been quite the learning process for me as well!

Anyway, here's the plan going forward: We're going to go off and zip through this 2nd side and change out colors (only if we want to), and we're going to continue sharing our progress as we go. We will regroup on 12/4 when I will post the final pattern that will include the finishing options and the big mystery will be completely solved. 12/4 should give you plenty of time to finish before Christmas, if you're knitting it as a gift.

Mine is not exactly mirrored, the top and bottom halves don't have the same color order, but my colors are: black, ash, doe heather, bison, wallaby, and hazelnut. Oh yeah and cream is the background color throughout the whole thing.

Thanks! Lillian Gish is a papillon/dachshund mix and in addition to helping me with my knitting she is also a service dog for me since I'm partially disabled (bad back, fibromyalgia, etc. etc.).

Lisa, how beautiful and your knitting is too! :-). I think I might have told you this before, but I LOVE your color combo-it really shows off the pattern perfectly!!! IF i do another one I will use your concept of one light background color and the darker colors as the foreground. VERY NICE!
I am behind-I have to finish week 9 yet! I had a really busy week last week and am just now getting to the patterns for 9 and 10...WHICH IS NOW WEEKS 1-9 ALL OVER AGAIN!
