Hi everyone.  While watching a creepy movie last night (my daughter made me watch it with her because she's a chicken), she saw a scarf that a girl was wearing and asked if I could make it.  I was like "Sure".  Now she's begging for it.  It's a colorwork skinny scarf.  Really really cute.  It looks double sided.

So now I have to try and chart this from the few pictures I was able to find on the internet.  Ugh.

My question this:  I was thinking of doing a figure 8 cast on and then just working this scarf in the round.  Do you think KP's "Palette" yarn would be a good choice for this?  It looks to be fingering weight to me. Or maybe DK?

I think Palette would be perfect! I see a few scattered rows (rnds) are with a thicker yarn or maybe a novelty yarn. You could hold the Palette double and get a similar effect, or find a novelty yarn. It looks as if it has been knit in the round and then the ends sewn shut. It will be interesting to see what other people think.

Yeah I was thinking of maybe doing some kind of texture stich (bobbles, or the bramble stitch maybe?) where it's thicker (novelty yarn is a good idea, gotta go stash digging and see what I have).

I'm trying to chart it out right now.  It won't be exactly alike, but pretty close.  I think I'll be able to match the colors pretty well with palette.

How is Palette next to the skin? That is my question. Would it be better to use Stroll? I know the color selection isn't as big, but I was just wondering about it being wrapped around the neck.

I don't know.  Stroll has some of the colors but not all of them.

I think I would try something finer like Felici in  a variety of colors in the round in stockinette and some rows in more textural stitches here and there as a surprise element. The effect would be the same unless she really wants the scarf to absotutely identical.
Stroll is very soft and silky, great for next to the skin. I don't wear a lot of knitted things next to my skin, because we really need layers where I live, even in the summer. Palette is great for sweaters, vests, shawls, etc.
Thanks for the input Peggy.  I think I'm going to go ahead hand dye the colors I need.  That way I'll get exactly what I want.
Plus the extra fun!
I LOVE it! I hope you will share pictures when you are done... Or, the pattern! :)
I sure will!!  To both!
As much as I love Palette yarn, I could never wear it next to my skin, especially my neck.
Ok.  Thanks for letting me know that.  I've never used Palette.  I think I'll go with Stroll and tweak some of the colors a bit.
