Knitting Community

Some of us in the Knitting Community have joined the "Flight Path" mystery Knitalong organized by Mary Scott Huff. If you're on Ravelry, you can find the Ravelry group here. I'm using Wool of the Andes Sport Weight in "Wonderland Heather," "Baltic Heather," "Saffron," "Fairytale" and "Avocado." We don't know at this point what the project will be, but it's an accessory for a woman. Here's my swatch:

Swatching instructions say to knit a swatch using the larger needles (I got gauge with size 4) working in the rnd or back and forth using two colors, any stranded pattern we wanted, since we don't have the chart yet. We're to aim for 6 1/2 sts/in. Sport weight or DK would be most suitable.

We will get one part of the pattern each week. Today (If you're reading this on Monday, January 30th) we get the first "clue." It will be fun to see what the project turns into. It isn't too late to join us if you want. It isn't a race. Just a fun thing to do together. All you need is the pattern (see link above) and 5 skeins of sport-weight yarn, each a different color. Just get your pattern and yarn and join us! We get the last clue February 27, 2012. You can buy the pattern later, but it will cost more, and you need to finish with the group to qualify for the drawings. (Yes, there are prizes!)

Yes it is hard to hide from them, but I think that they felt better just by having you home with them.

I need to do my red one, too.  I gave the blue one to a dear friend and sheadoresit!  She said she'll never take it off.  She drove home with it on in 70+ degree weather!  Her color is blue, to match her eyes.  I favor red, so I'll keep the red one.

One of the ladies in my guild LOVED my blue one, too.  I mean loved!

I'll finish the clue #1 portion tonight...

I am so glad to hear you gals are all okay we have been having rain and some mild winds, but we have been lucky.

I'm making good progress on this second hat... almost half finished with Clue #3... I should have made this colorway first, I love it.

Ooh, I do like that colorway.

It is much softer.. and the tangerine is not as stark against the pink/red as the green was against the light/dark blue.

It looks nice! Was the tangerine supposed to be used for the rim instead of the green?  I thought I remembered something being said on ravelry about realizing after knitting it green that it was supposed to be tangerine.  Am I correct?  Not that it really matters - lol.  It's pretty!

Yes, I notice that too... the pattern calls for the tangerine for the rim... and I really like it.  It is not nearly as bright as the pic... and blends much more nicely with the other yarns, IMHO.  I like this colorway a lot.

So this one can be for you, and the blue one can be for Gracie.

That is what I'm thinking... I KNOW Gracie will wear the blue one... she loves grandma's knitting.

I'm also thinking about a pompom for the top... I just can't figure out which color to use...???
