Mary Scott Huff's "Flight Path" KAL!

Some of us in the Knitting Community have joined the "Flight Path" mystery Knitalong organized by Mary Scott Huff. If you're on Ravelry, you can find the Ravelry group here. I'm using Wool of the Andes Sport Weight in "Wonderland Heather," "Baltic Heather," "Saffron," "Fairytale" and "Avocado." We don't know at this point what the project will be, but it's an accessory for a woman. Here's my swatch:

Swatching instructions say to knit a swatch using the larger needles (I got gauge with size 4) working in the rnd or back and forth using two colors, any stranded pattern we wanted, since we don't have the chart yet. We're to aim for 6 1/2 sts/in. Sport weight or DK would be most suitable.

We will get one part of the pattern each week. Today (If you're reading this on Monday, January 30th) we get the first "clue." It will be fun to see what the project turns into. It isn't too late to join us if you want. It isn't a race. Just a fun thing to do together. All you need is the pattern (see link above) and 5 skeins of sport-weight yarn, each a different color. Just get your pattern and yarn and join us! We get the last clue February 27, 2012. You can buy the pattern later, but it will cost more, and you need to finish with the group to qualify for the drawings. (Yes, there are prizes!)

OMG! A beautiful sweater to be sure, but no way I could or would ever spend that much on one sweater!

Well that isn't too bad but once I looked at the kits I have I realized I have two that I need to finish and one is like the cardigan, I saw it on Cat .......Let's Knit 2gether web site on her trip to Alaska I ordered the kit a year ago. On Ravelry it is under...... Design No 1 (women) or No 4 (men), then I also bought a kit from Philosophers Wool that I need to start. I need to stop buying kits I have a bunch from KP that I need to finish.

Me too! I have several kits that I ordered, and others I have 'made' by matching the yarn with the pattern.....all unstarted and/or unfinished.

I bought the Falling Stars kit last year. I think I'm going to pull that out and see if I could make this sweater with that kit. :)

Pickle, is Falling Stars a Philosophers Wool kit? It sounds awfully familiar. I would only caution you that their wool is not next to skin soft. Not at all. Makes a beautiful outerwear sweater, but I'd never wear it next to my skin. Correct me if I'm wrong, but from the reading I've done in the Poems book, those sweaters are definitely next to skin soft garments.

The Falling Stars is one of Knit Picks kits using Palette. They just put them out in new colors. Mine is a navy blue (I think background) with purples and turquoise? for the yoke. I think I bought it just becuase it was marked down- to get enough of the dark to make a sweater and get the discount. Now I need to actually do something with it. :) You can see the kit color I bought on Ravelry here. I think the main color - Jay - isn't quite as bright as my screen makes those pictures. I hope anyway. :)
