I just saw this on Lion Brand site and I think it would be so sweet for my Granddaugther. It won't have hundreds of bobbins off the back but enough that I wouldn't go nuts.

What suggestions do you all have for the yarn from KP's for this? Take a look at it....

That is very cute! How old is your granddaughter?
My granddaugther is six going on 14!! I have her every day until she goes back to school. She is so smart she is good company.

They say use a 4 ply worsted weight yarn. I think I'd need it to be washable since it's for a child. I do want to use bright colors too.
The name of the afghan is "FLOWER POWER AFGHAN" just in case anyone else wanted to take a look at the directions on their site.
What gorgeous colors! What weight yarn does it call for? --P
I just looked at the pattern directions. I looks like you have to print out the charts and tape them together to get a "Map" of the afghan. I've been looking at the pattern since it came out but I don't think my 4-legged companions would stay out of the project. When you get set up to knit please show pictures.

Since the 70's seem to be back you HAVE to use the bright colors of that time! Start with bright pink as a base and go from there.

Have fun, Marianne
What an adorable pattern. Swish worsted would be nice I think. From the photo it looks like the right gauge, it's a lovely soft yarn , beautiful colors and it's washable.

Oh, wow, the last time I looked at this it was for purchase. Since I don't have MC or Visa I couldn't get it. Now that they take PayPal I was going to order it, but now it's free! Yeah!!!

Here's another cute and simple intarsia one from Lion Brand that could be done in bright colors:

Yes. I got an email yesterday from Lion Brand saying ALL of their patterns are now FREE due to the economy. I printed out about six patterns. Many I actually laughed over. Sometimes I wonder what the "designer" was thinking of when I saw a few of the projects.
OMG! I didn't get that email! I'm on their list. Wonder why! And I even checked my spam and junk mail folders yesterday.

Now I've got to go download a whole slew of patterns!!!!

Thanks for informing me, Celine.
I love this! I would use Swish Worsted. Marine Heather for the background, Serrano and Allspice for the flowers, Dublin and Lawn for the leaves and Sunshine or Gold for the center of the flowers.
