Oh boy, Oh Joy! My luscious yarn arrived today. It's bad form to
drool, isn't it? I have got to finish paying the bills and then disappear
into my hole and knit. I am sooo excited. This a really beautiful sweater.
Bonus - it should be light weight enough to wear comfortably in Tucson
in the winter.

Oh, and I have to be sure to turn off the phone so my Honey pup can't call the
ASPCA for neglect. We'll just have to take play breaks periodically.

With me, it depends on the project. With Sam the Ram, I couldn't even listen to music! Knitting with minor pattern activity is good for listening to podcasts or audiobooks. I can't just sit and knit straight with nothing much going on in the pattern without some other entertainment. That's why I like to have a variety of projects. --Peggy
You miss understand. I prefer to read the book then listen to it. I don't know what it is but even as a child when we had to read outloud I would completely not register what was being read. To this day I have to follow along with my fingers when I am listening to someone else read. My background noise in knitting is the tv.
The wife of my knitting buddy Rob like to hold the book in her hands. He has a Kindle-type device, but she doesn't like it. She would rather turn the pages herself. But she doesn't like knitting, either. I think these little quirks are just part of who we are. To me, it makes it more fun that everyone is different. --P
I am so with you. It must be a book and I have to see the words. My hubby likes to read portions of the Bible out loud to me and if I am not following along my mind wanders big time. He on the other hand retains it almost word for word whether he listens or reads. I really wish I could do audiobooks though as I love literature and it would provide free hands to knit. Oh well.
If you're a visual person, it helps to have your eyes busy with something while you're listening. I can read...I mean I know how...but my eyes and mind keep wandering, so it takes me longer. If I'm knitting something that doesn't require lots of attention, I can take in what I hear. I have trouble reading a book if the TV is on, or music with words. --P
I've had shingles in my right eye so I cannot read the way I used to read. It's the repeditive eye movement that bothers me. I'm so lucky it didn't affect my knitting. So now I listen to books all the time. And I do mean all the time. My DH had gotten to where he snored so loud that I would go to sleep with my earphones on. Years went by before he was finally diagnosed with sleep apnea. He now uses a cpap machine and doesn't snore, but I still have to listen to books to go to sleep. It can't be music.

So I listen to books while I do housework, cook, knit .... and I just keep listening over and over again until I've heard it all. This makes my book addiction go further and gives more time for my knitting addiction.

But as Peggy has said each of us is different and that's what makes us so much fun.
Got my yarn today....Yippee!!! Midnight Heather and Turquoise Splendor....so pretty :)

My temp job is supposed to start tomorrow and I'm about to run out of yarn on the UFO I've been working on. So when I'm not working, I'll have my new yarn to play with, until I get more yarn to finish my UFO.

BTW- I always have at least 1 or 2 if not 5 skeins/hanks leftover....I'm so surprised to be running out. Maybe I'm running out because I'm supposed to be working on my CLC ;0)
My yarn came today!!!! Yay!!!!!!

It is so awesome!!!
I haven't even taken them out yet because I am expecting my ball winder to arrive tomorrow or the next day. But maybe I can wind a bit by hand to swatch with ...
I am so excited!!!
That would mean that you havent started either. Hallelujah! Oh Joy, I'm not so very far behind the group
Oh wait, I see the date, I am behind

I have a day off tomorrow, but I think that the yard is going to win this back and forth

Anybody willing to wait until October? just kidding
I've not started mine yet either and won't until later in the week at the earliest... maybe longer. I've got a couple other things I'd like to do before starting on the Cardi. No, I won't wait until October, but I may not start for another couple of weeks, at least. :-) For one thing, I don't have a functioning ball winder and I have an awful lot of lace weight yarn to wind... so I'm considering breaking down and getting a KP winder... which means I'd wait for that order to get here and get all the yarn wound up before I started... which puts me out at least two weeks to start if I decide to do that. :-)
star: if you bring it to mt house and load it onto my swift, i can wind it using my good hand. --p
In a New York minute, Peggy... if only I had the money I'd be on the next plane! LOL!
