Sue, I wasn't sure which cast-on to use when I started this a couple weeks ago. I ended up after watching a few videos using the provisional cast-on with crochet hook. I found it easier than some of the other methods. If you check on the knitpicks videos and someone in the discussion had listed 3 of them, you'll see the different methods. Once I had knit 10 rows up from the purl row (turned up row), I put the stitches onto a similar sized circular needle as I pulled out the waste yarn and knit the hem into the sleeve as I knit. Does that make sense? Someone else in the discussion had mentioned doing this. I'm doing the sleeves with the 2 circular needle method and this meant dealing with 3 circular needles. It was a little slow but when the row was done and the hem was all joined to the sleeve I was very excited. Now I don't have to go back and finish the hem. I'll do this on the other sleeve and hopefully on the body. Hope you find the perfect cast-on method for you. Robin
