I am a somewhat experienced knitter who has made numerous raglan-sleeve sweaters. I am confused as to the math involved in the Classic Lines Cardigan for size 44. After attaching the sleeves (442 st total) and decreasing by 8 sts 33 times, I come up with 178 sts total, not 176 as reported in the directions. When working the short rows for the neckline, the directions for size 44 say to work a decrease row 7 times total, thus decreasing another 56 sts and leaving 122 sts for the neckband instead of the reported 130 as stated in the directions. Has anyone else run into this error and, if so, what final stitch total did you find worked best for the size required?

Judith, I know fibromyalgia is not an enjoyable thing to have and hope you will get back to feeling better very soon. I always wonder what I'd do if my hands didn't work so well and hindered me in all the crafts that involve hands because I love all of them. Robin
Marcia, I found I was 2 stitches too many before the short rows and 6 stitches too short after the short rows, but I just kept going because it didn't seem to be enough to make a difference. Robin
The same thing happened to me. I thought I must have done an extra row of decreases but now it makes sense. I just finished my sweater and like someone else, it seems like the collar of mine stands up instead of lying flat. I know I did the decreases and the W&Ts. Maybe I did something wrong while tacking down the collar.

I think I had that issue, I just recounted and checked, and adjusted.  But since I have a shorter distance from arm holes to the top of the sweater neck area, I needed to adjust the decreases anyway.  So my calculations are different than others would be.  I didn 't even save the counts that I used, silly me, will have to repeat the calculations when I get ready to do another one.  I am thinking about getting some palette in red for the main part of the sweater, and then using a multi color for the contrasting stripe.  Now that I am out of the hospital, I can get busy and finish this one CLiC sweater, and get ready for a lighter weight one.

I am sorry to hear that you have been in the hospital. Hopefully you are on the road to recovery. I need to do the steek part now but that isn't something I want to hurry with so need some time. I would like to do one with heavier yarn. That lace weight made  up nice but it is very soft and it feels delicate. Maybe it is tougher than I think. I hope you are well. vk

Yes, I'm doing much better right now.  Now to get myself in gear and finish the hem turns so that I can get the steeking done.  It has been on hold for way to long now.  Want to finish it, so that I can start another sweater.  My lace knitting is coming along quite well.  Of course, lace is my favorite knitting to do.  So I have to make sure that I make time for the other knitting as well as shawls, or I would get nothing done but lace.

Hugs

Janet
