If you've been itching to try City Tweed but haven't fount the perfect pattern yet, here's one: the Calluna sweater!

Designed specifically for City Tweed, this sweater has textures, cables, and a flattering fit.

Calluna features an empire waist and a flowing, open front. The bodice is knit in a flattering diagonal rib, and the 3/4 length sleeves are worked in Moss stitch. The pattern is written for 32 (36, 40, 44, 48, 52)” finished chest measurements.

The best part - the pattern is available now as a download for only $1.29!

Usually I don't knit my own patterns (once it's written, I feel like I already knit one!), but I really want this one - now to pick a color!

Wow, that is nice. Not sure how well it would work on my very busty figure, though.

Thanks! This sweater was actually sized with the moderately busty in mind; I always have that "empire-waist-hits-me-mid-chest" problem. That is something I hoped to resolve with this pattern. Of course, it needs to fit a variety of averages, so there's only so far i could go! If you wanted to alter this to be a better fit for a larger chest, it would be a pretty straightforward fix. The yarn blocks amazingly well and holds its shape when blocked, so you can block the lower portion smaller than the top; use short rows (or add several full rows) to the upper portion of the bodice to give you the extra length you need to fit. The schematic makes it easy to see the length both above and below the waist. If you know the 'rise' of your bust, from underbust to the top of your shoulder, add any extra length you need between the waist and the underarm.

Overall, this should be flattering to just about any figure. The diagonal rib in the bodice is very forgiving and slimming, and the cables really accentuate the figure. I'm looking forward to seeing how it fits a variety of body shapes, because I'm very interested to design universal, adaptable patterns that would look good on anyone!

I'm sooooo excited after reading your entries. My yarn should be here within the week.

Thanks, that encourages me. But I'll have to wait until the fall to go for it. I think Blue Blood or Orca would be my choices too. I'm doing my DK sweater in Poseidon, so I'd want to steer away from blues and greens for this one.

I love your "empire-waist-hits-me-mid-chest" comment. I have a really pretty blouse that I never wear because I'm always tugging it down to try and make the empire waist sit in the right spot--and then it just rides up again. A sweater would have the advantage of being softer and heavier, so more likely to stay in place.

I need a dk project. what are you making? the calluna is in worsted, and I don;t know if I am advanced enough to make the leap.

I'm working on Bristow from knitty.com, but it was written for worsted weight, and I had to adjust the pattern to match my gauge with DK. Since it's still a work in progress, I can't say yet how well I did my adjustments. I haven't found very many patterns for women's sweaters written for DK.

Hi! I'm having such a hard time deciding what color I like best - Though I know i should really try a neutral like Orca or Tabby, I'm really leaning towards Blueblood. It's such a rich, dark red - a great fall color, and I don't have any sweaters in that color yet. But, practicality says I'd wear the dark grey Orca a lot more often - it's so hard to decide!

I'm interested in joining the knitalong, but I'd like to know a couple of things before I buy the pattern and yarn. I mainly would like to know how the sweater is constructed, flat or in the round? I really prefer to knit in the round versus pieces. I wass curious about what the gauge for the project is too. Could you tell me this infromation?
