These are some of my favorite free patterns from Knit Picks for gift giving:

Lumpy, Rosie, and Slim the Snowmen

Twig lace cap

Cabled Mug Cozy

Queen of Diamonds Fingerless Gloves
I love the fingerless gloves. I've never knit gloves before. I'm printing out the pattern. Thanks for posting it.
I have a couple of really cute ones, but I sell the patterns. I would love to post them for free, but I need to start making some money.

Santa Baby is 6" and was inspired by Eartha Kit's song Santa Baby and my mom's Christmas stocking.

This little mini Santa was inspired by my mom's stocking and a little stocking I found once to put money in.

But I love all the suggestion, Angela. I'm really going to bite off more than I can chew. And I'm glad you mentioned the fingerless gloves. This gives me an idea for my boys. I think I'll do this for them.
I love these mini stockings so much Cheryl! They are adorable and have such a wonderful vintagey look to them. so CuTe!!!
Thanks, Susan. I really enjoy making them.
I've mentioned the KP Spa Kit which is several items that can be given together or separately. Lovely, pretty bath items for a gift or for YOU! One skein of City Tweed HW makes a great pair of Fetching mitts with extra length at the wrists and fingers. Lots of ideas to be found in the One Skein Wonders books and the new Knitted Gifts book by Ann Budd. The Lucinda Guy book of Handknits for Kids has the cutest purse for a little girl with a long shoulder strap. She's designed it with a big butterfly, but you could chart almost anything for the purse or just make it a fancy stitch pattern with that nice edging. For hats in general, I love Hip Knit Hats. There is a 'tutorial' on how to choose a hat shape for the shape of face/head you are knitting for. It's priceless in saving the embarrassment of knitting a totally wrong shape for someone! That's my 3 cents worth....
Great suggestions all!!--I just got the book One Skein Wonders by Durant from KP-- there's a pascal of purses and bevy of shawls, and a couple of great shrugs which need little fit--I think they will fill out my Christmas list very well!!
Bummer! I just realized that the KP Spa kit ISN'T anymore. I can't find the patterns either. Perhaps I don't know where to look properly or they aren't available on their own yet. So Angela.... whence goeth the spa kit? It makes great little gift items!
I was looking for the spa kit also. Then I thought it would be available as a download, but I don't think they've released it yet.
Let me check with Tina and see what her plans are for releasing the spa kit patterns as downloads.
Thanks, Angela, that would be nice to have for quick gifts.
The spa kit pattern will be available as a download by the end of this week, and it will cost $4.99. The patterns for the Parkrose Pillow, the Montavilla Tote, and the Little Bubbles set will be available soon too.
