This is the way I'd like to do it - buy the book and yarn together so that I can get started on this project. I've emailed KnitPicks but have not heard back from them, so posted here in hopes that they'd respond. I'll try calling tomorrow - since today is New Year's - and Happy New Year to all!

Hi!

I'm working on the Sheldon Blanket freebie pattern and I've got a question about moving from Row 8 of the 2nd border to working on the third border----do I bind off? It's not stated anywhere and can't see any other way to make the transition.

Thanks!

Anne.

I am beginning the mossy diamonds coat but I am not sure what size to make. Can you explain the finished size measurements? I am confused about what these are measuring. Thanks for the help! -Cherie

Hi Cherie,

The measurements we use are the finished measurements of the garment - so a 40" sweater is exactly that! you can then determine what fit you prefer, and make whatever size suits your preference.

Thanks, Kerin. Is it the hip, waist, chest, or shoulder finished measurement? I am guessing hips because length doesn't seem to make sense in the pattern and my waist and chest don't come close to 40".

I am making the Girl's Best Friend Anklets. I have made it through the cuff and it has turned out beautiful! I'm hung up though on the part where you turn the whole thing inside out to knit back down the leg to the foot. Am I changing directions in my knitting? Won't this leave a tiny hole?

Thanks for your help!

I'm stuck at the same point on Girl's Best Friend Anklets. What did you figure out?

I saw the new Ladies Jacquard Sweater Vest using Palette. Is there another Knit Picks yarn that could be substituted? Palette may be a little too scratchy for some people. I really like the vest pattern, and might like to try it.

Hi Susan,
Palette is definitely the best choice for this vest because of its 'stickiness' and its light weight. You could certainly substitute a sock yarn or any other light fingering yarn, or double a laceweight. It probably wouldn't do as well in a superwash or non-wool yarn because of the steeks, but if you machine sew them and give the vest a good blocking, you should be alright with something like Essential. I would definitely swatch a lot first, though, to be sure it works out ok!

Happy knitting :)

I just bought the Palette Fair Isle Cardigan pattern and then noticed that much of the called for yarn is no longer available. So what colors would people suggest? Obviously I liked the look of the one in the picture but I still love the sweater I'm just not sure what colors to substitute.

Hi! Since we added so many new colors to Palette last Fall, we've been working to update all of our older Palette patterns with new colorways. Check back often, they'll be up soon!

I love the Blue Pine Jacket and would like make it but I am not so fond of the blue. I am trying to figure out color selections for the details if I knit it in hollyberry or moss. Has anyone from the office figured out any alternate color schemes?
