I want to order the Pallet colors to make the Autumn Rose sweater, but when I choose "order the yarns as shown in the picture above' 3 of them are blank. Does this mean Knit Picks is out of certain colors? Are they coming back or do I have to pick new ones?
Yeah, that means that we are out of those colors. If you look at the Palette yarn on our website, you will see the dates when the yarns will be back in stock.
HELP! I have been working on the penguin socks in the Knitted Socks book by Anna Tillman and have reached the joining section, however my book does not have the orange line on Chart A. If someone could please let me know how many stitches in I am supposed to go before placing the marker it would be greatly appreciated.
I don't have the book, either, but have you checked the publisher's website for "errata" or "corrections?" If something is missing from the instructions, and they already know about it, they should have the information. Good Luck! --Peggy

I am new to knitting anything but afghans. I also need to know with the size "40" for a vest, is that bust. hip, shoulder?? Or is the entire vest like a 40 inch tube?
That is the bust measurement. And to figure out your size, I recommend measuring a sweater that already fits you well instead of your own bust. Also, we just made a podcast about the topic of ease (which was the most tricky thing for me when I started knitted garments).
No complaints about the books at all! I have enjoyed them all, and when I see a book I want on Amazon or Crafter's Choice I always check it out on the Knit Picks website first. Almost always it's cheaper through KP, especially if I'm ordering $50 anyway, which I can usually manage, thanks to my knitting buddies. What I wanted to mention, though, is that I have had several of them spiral bound. These include paperback books with the regular glued binding, like Charlene Schurch's Sensational Knitted Socks, EZ's Knitter's Workshop, and the wonderful One Skein Wonders. I just take them in to a copy shop and ask them to spiral-bind them. I can keep the book open to my page. (Slipping them into a plastic bag keeps the pages in good condition.) It also lies open to the right place nicely. I have done some of my paperback cookbooks this way. I wish I had thought of this a long time ago. Another hint is to check for corrections from the publisher, especially if something doesn't make sense or isn't coming out right. --Peggy
Hello all!
I was having some trouble with the Pattern for Men's Convertible Fingerless Gloves. I got the gloves down pat, love the pattern, but got stuck at this point for the Convertible flap at the begging. Sorry if this should be obvious.
Says " 2 rows below the base of the pinky finger joint on the back of the hand, CO 2 sts, pick up 16 sts, CO 2 sts, place marker, CO 20 sts. Place Marker and join for knitting in the round. 40 sts total."
Am I supposed to do this all on one needle? Or 2 or 4? At first I just went and CO 2 sts on one needle, then picked up the 16 on the same needle from the back of the glove, and did the rest on that same needle.
