Jenny, I haven't knit any thrummed mittens but Robin Melanson's Knitting New Mittens and Gloves has thrummed mittens in it.
Knit4Many has done it. Check this out:

She also wrote about it in other blog posts.
I am starting the pattern for Beetle Tracks Scarf I purchased from the Knit Picks site and am reading through the directions before I start!!!....some of the stitches for the pattern confuse me and I was wondering if someone can help me...first is    ,sl2 wyif,..  I have gone to my vast supply of knitting books for the directions.....in one I find this means to slip the stitches  onto the right needle with the knitted loop on the left needle ( from the previous row) as a yarn in front then knit the next stitch.......in another reference from another book it says to slip the two stitches then pass the yarn in front of the slipped stitches leaving a two stitch long piece of yarn in the front of the slipped stitches.....I tried to find this stitch on youtube but couldn't  find any tutorial for this....I went to the website of the pattern designer, knittingkninja.com and didn't find any explanation for the stitch.....HELP please before I start this pattern......thanks

This sounds like some sort of linen stitch. Sl2 is usually sl 2 purlwise unless it tells you slip knitwise. Wyif means with yarn in front. Here is a video for the linen stitch. It only as 1 slipped st but it should be the same principal.

Good job, Cheryl! That's how I interpret the directions, too.
Thanks, Peggy. Someone had just mentioned the linen stitch somewhere, so it immediately popped into my head.
I love how your head works!
I'm so glad someone can appreciate how it works!
I think I have a multitude of company!

Hi Cheryl & Everyone!

Is anyone or has anyone done the Adagio sweater pattern? I have a gauge question. Silly really, but I'm not really caffeinated yet.... Pattern calls for 22 sts over 4" and I get 19 with same yarn and needles. Do I go down a needle size to get gauge or not?

Thanks!

Hiya -

Since you are needing more stitches in one inch, you will need to go down in needle size. You had it right, even without the caffeine :)

Thanks jenny!

I think I'll go get some tea before I attempt another swatch!  ;)

Have you done this pattern?
