I have a question about 'mixing' two different types of yarn in a project. I found the funnest hat in a book called "Men who knit and the dogs who love them". The pattern is the "Man's Dreadlock Hat" and calles for bluky weight yarn. I want to make several of these for the men in my life who love soccer, in the local professional soccer club's colors. Red, Royal Blue and Gold. Swish Bulky has a yellow that will work for the gold and a blue that will be ok, but the red in Cadena is really closer to the color that I need. Given these yarns are the same weight, can they be used together? or would it be better to get the undyed yarn and dye my own so the yarn is all the same?

Swish Bulky, Cadena, and Wool of the Andes Bulky are all close enough in gauge where they can be mixed together in a hat. I would choose whatever colors you like best among these yarns. Good luck!

Just want to say I love KnitPicks yarns. I always think of buying them first for any project I have because they are very affordable and wonderful quality. I crochet more than I ever knit but the yarns are still great.

Do any of the Knit Picks yarns have color ways that are long for making multi color entrelac patterns. I've found a pattern that I want to make, but it needs something almost self striping. I've looked through the colors available, and haven't seen anything I think will work. I've found some colors in other brands, but I'm not too excited about spending over $9 for a 100-yard ball of yarn - and I will need 7 - 9 balls for this project.

The only self striping yarn that we currently have is Felici.

Normally, I'm very happy with Knit Picks yarns. However, 7 of the 16 items received yesterday will be returned because of quality control issues: 4 hanks of Imagination (Damsel) and 3 balls of Essential Multi (Fruit Punch). All suffer from greyed, muddy dye jobs when swatched. None of the bright, clear colors advertised. I was especially disappointed with the Imagination yarn I'd waited so long for because in addition to the extremely bad dye job, it was coarse, hairy, and too loosely spun for socks. Just plain ugly. Polar opposite to the other 12 hanks of Imagination purchased. Hopefully, this is the exception rather than the rule.

I think the only time I was disappointed was when I called about how fast the Harmony DPNs broke... I was told that was why they give you 6

Hi,

This isn't actually a question about the yarn, but about the woolwash. Is the Kookaburra Woolwash hypoallergenic? I ask because I am very sensitive to detergents (I'm allergic to Tide, Era, All, etc) and don't want to purchase something that will have me break out in hives. At the same time, I recognize the need to wash the things I make and would like to purchase something to that effect.

Any answer would be helpful. Thank you.

Neither Kookaburra or Eucalan said that they were hypoallergenic on their websites.
They do list their ingredients here if you want to find out more about what is in the wool washes that we sell.
