Is the Bare "Imagination" (wool/alpaca/nylon) sock yarn gone? I was planning on striping it with the Pirate King Imagination for the striped knee socks (originally CEY Alpaca Sox) in the Big Book of Socks, but I cannot find the un-dyed version on the site.
Hi Arachnera,

Unfortunately we are unable to carry the bare version any longer! Sorry about that! :(

Would 3 strands of Wool of the Andes worsted weight be considered bulky or super bulky weight? I am wanting to substitute Wool of the Andes for Dale of Norway Hubro Bulky.

thank you!
Hi Nellie,

I would say it would be more Super Bulky, as I normally get bulky gauge with just 2. You might want to swatch to be sure though!

Nellie, I knitted two bags last fall using Wool of the Andes Bulky, and needed another color for the bag, but there wasn't what I wanted in that particular yarn. Wool of the Andes Worsted had the color I needed. I ordered two skeins and held two strands together, and you could not tell the difference between the parts knit with the worsted (double stranded) and the bulky. Hope this helps some. ♥s
Hi!
I was wondering if someone could recommend which knitpicks yarn would be the best for making a snuggly blanket for my 3 year old daughter? I am making one for my 1 year old son and well, she is a little jealous. :) The yarn I am making his out of is 75% acrylic and 25% wool. I bought it at a LYS, but love the yarns here at knitpicks a little better.
Also, each skein is 50 g/107 yds. I bought 7 skeins. If I want my daughters blanket to be a little bigger, how many skeins would you recommend?
Sorry for the questions. I am fairly new to knitting and just want to get it all right! :)
Thanks!
It's hard to say for sure without knowing what kind of stitch/pattern you're planning to use, but I think Comfy Worsted would be a great choice for a kid's blanket. The yardage for Comfy looks to be almost exactly the same as the yarn you're using for your son's blanket, so it should be pretty easy to judge how much yarn you'll need. I'd get 10 skeins if you want the blanket to be a little bigger. You can always use what's leftover for another project.
Hi - I am planning to knit a cabled aran-style pullover for my stepfather, and I'm trying to choose a yarn. I'm torn between Bare Peruvian Highland Wool Worsted and WOTA worsted in Cloud. I can't really tell the difference online. I want the sweater to be the classic natural cream color - not too yellow, and not too white. I know that Bare would be slightly less expensive, but either option would be a good value. Any help would be appreciated.
Hi Jennifer,

Honestly, there isn't a big difference between the two - both are lovely natural colors. If pressed, I would say that Cloud has a bit more of a cream color to it while Bare has more white. But I think you would be happy with either one for your project. :)

Hope that helps!
Thank you! I think I'm going to go with Cloud, then. Thank goodness WOTA is so inexpensive - My stepdad is 6'8" and wears a 2XL Tall sweater. I'm thinking I'll need at least 4000 yards - maybe more. I'm off to order the world's largest pile of WOTA. Yay!

I know it's been 8 months, but I thought I'd follow up to say the Cloud WotA worked perfectly for this project.  Thanks!

Wow, This is a lovely sweater.  Good job!
