Dear friends,
I just purchased the 4" sock knitting needles, they are the laminated ones, They just came today and I LOVE THEM. What a perfect fit , they are so lovely to knit with and are perfect for some baby socks I am trying to knit... I love the feel of the laminated wood and the colors. Just a comment. Is there any way you could maybe color coordinate these, so say a blue set would be a 2.50 mm and a purple set would be say a 2.75 mm size? I am just thinking that once i have them in my knit bag I might start mixing them up. Just a thought.
I also have to say I really LOVE Knit Picks. I have waited a long time to find a knit supply dealer and you folks are really professional.
Thank you too for free patterns!
Sincerely,
Grace Brunelle, VT

The wood used to make the Harmony woods has already been processed and laminated into the multi-colors before KP's needle manufacturer's have anything to do with it... so, the short answer would probably be no on separate colors for different sizes... although I like the idea too. :-)

I'd encourage you to add a (MM) needle sizer to your next order and keep it with your needles. I keep one with my stored needles, one with my current project, and another near where I work most often... they are relatively inexpensive and quick to use. If you get one elsewhere, make certain it uses MM sizing, in addition to what ever other sizes it has. :-) You'll thank me later.

I personally appreciate your comments about the 4" DPNs... I'm seriously considering getting the set for the glove knitting I hope to begin later in the summer...

Yeah, Elianastar is right about how the rainbow wood comes to us. But your idea is good, having different colors of wood correspond with different needle sizes would be pretty and useful. In the meantime, I keep my DPNs in a case and label them with their size with a permanent marker. Also, I double check the sizes with a gauge check before I begin my project.

What a good idea about labeling with a permanent marker. I will have to find the tiniest point I can to label my needles, which are mostly in the sock-making range, but I think that's a great solution. I learn something every day I'm here! --Peggy

Glad to hear that you are happy with them. I just added them to my order to be placed in the future.

I just wanted to post a quick comment on how wonderful the new 4" Harmony DPN set is for a quick small-gauge swatching set! It's small, portable, and has a wide array of the needle sizes I use most often. I'm getting ready to knit the Layered Skater's Top from Veronik Avery's Knitting Classic Style and needed a small "in the round" swatch to ensure that the yarn I wanted to order (Shine Sport) would knit up to gauge. It was so nice and convenient to have each needle size I might need right there beside me in the cute little case. For those who knit smaller gauge items and wish they had the convenience of the Options set for swatching, give this little needle kit a try!

Also, an aside, but if you haven't watched Kelley's latest video on preparing for the Classic Lines Cardigan KAL, she passes on a wonderful swatching tip from Meg Swansen.

Thank you for the review of the 4" DPNs... I'm considering them for later in the summer when I plan to make a bunch of tipless and fingered gloves for the winter months. :-) Normally, I don't have a lot of use for DPNs, but they make a ton of sense for glove fingers!

I just have to say that the 4" DPN'S are absolutely wonderful! Of course, all the needles are wonderful but we all know that! :)

Thanks for the report... I'm looking forward to working with them too!

I want to knit a wrap & it calls for size 4 & 8 needles. You have to cast on 340 sts. I think I need circular needles but want length? It calls for a fingering weight yarn & was thinking of using Knit Picks Palette

My friend gave me my first pair of Harmony circular needles for sock knitting. I loved them, I went online and bought a sets in different sizes for variety....but oh no, my needle has come lose from the tubing.......couldn't get it to stay, had to tear my sock apart....so sad. Loved the feel of the needles and how the yarn works with them, hope this is just a one time issue. I would hate to give up my Harmony needles.......
