Help! I just finished my first pair of socks, and I am totally hooked! BUT, when I tried to wear them, the first sock fits fine, and the second sock won't go over my ankle. I made them the same, but I'm guessing the tension on the second pair was tighter for the cast-on. Any hints on how to fix this without tearing out the entire second sock? Any and all ideas are welcome- and thanks in advance!
I take it they were knit from the cuff down to the toe, otherwise you would rip out, right? If you really want to save the pair for yourself, you could snip it below the tight part putting the free stitches that you undo back on to needles and knit up to the top. I've done this with a sweater I didn't like because the ribbing was too loose.
Have you ever thought about carrying knitting thimbles on Knit Picks? I have been using the Options Interchangeables for over a year, and this week I punctured my thumb while knitting on some bulky weight yarn. I've never had this happen before and it seems that some type of rubber, flexible plastic or leather thumb cover might prevent this from happening. I've searched the web for such an item, and don't see anything that would fill the bill. I read where people used bandaids, but I just don't want all of that adhesive stuck on my hand while using yarn.
What about wearing a sewing thimble? We sell them at our sister company, Connecting Threads here: http://quilting-fabric.connectingthreads.com/search?w=thimble
Great! I searched everywhere and didn't find anything like this. One of these WILL work. Thanks for the link. As usual Knit Picks ... and sister companies Rock.

Hi,
i have just started making Felted Hats, and i really enjoy making them. I have made a "Stripes and Curlicues" hat from a pattern i found in Kathleen Taylor's book: "Knit One, Felt Too". I am somewhat of a novice knitter, and would like to know if there is a way to make the pattern in an adult size? The directions are only for infant, toddler, and child. I would really like to make an adult size if possible. Thanks for any help I can get!
About the Kookaburra wool wash - how much is needed to wash a garment? And how often would you wash a wool garment - particularly a scarf or a hat. I'm trying to figure out how long the 2 oz bottle will last.
When I use the Kookaburra wool wash, I use about 1/2oz for a sink full of fiber. The larger 16oz bottle has a little measuring reservoir - you squeeze the bottle and it fills the reservoir up to either the 1/2oz or 1oz mark. I do a lot of hand spinning and sweater knitting, and a 16oz bottle still lasts me over 9 months. The 2oz bottle would last you for a while if you're just doing hats and scarves - you could get away with using 1/4oz or so for smaller items.
