I have tried dying some Bare yarn yesterday and today with Jaquard Acid Dye and I have a problem. I'm using pink. Each time as soon as I put the yarn in the pot the color grabbed onto the yarn in some spots and barely did in others, making it very blotchy. I think I'm following the instructions correctly. Has anyone else had this problem and do you know a way to fix it?

Was the yarn wet when you put it in? I haven't done any wool dyeing for a number of years, but as I recall the wool should be wet when you put it in the dyepot.

Jil is right, the yarn needs to be VERY wet. It should soak in a warm water for at least 30 minutes, and some people say overnight before trying to dye it. --S

Is anyone else having trouble with the shopping cart? When I go to check the status of my orders, I see my billing address and the summary of charges, but not the actual order contents or the tracking number.

I haven't ordered in a week or so, and haven't had any problems. --S

I was wondering what pattern is used on the Knit Plenty wallpaper for the swatch at the bottom of the picture, the heathered 3-color pattern? Thanks

I have a friend who is trying to switch hands as she has a problem with her right hand. She asked me if I could teach her to knit lefthanded. I searched the tutorials but could not find anything on lefthanded knitting. How about a video on the subject?

Jill: Check this out. There are a few others there, too. You can see my still shots of what I do in my blog here. I think methods of knitting with the left hand are almost like snowflakes. Each person holds the yarn a little differently. --P

Thanks Peggy. Your Flicker photos are amazing. I have done a bit of Fair Isle but nothing like yours. A question: Do you knit your raglans from the top or from the bottom? I am wanting to do an Aran but would like to do it from the top. Problem is how to place the various stitches. Perhaps it is not possible to do such a sweater from the top.

I think it could be done from the top. The only problem you might run into would be if you use a pattern, such as a tree, that might not look right upside down. Of course, you could name your project, "After the Hurricane." --P

I was thinking cables, etc. The trick, I think, would be to decide on the placement. Sleeves you know you are in the middle, but the fronts? I don't know. It might be worth trying, however.

Jill,
I have knitted a sweater from the top down using raglan sleeves. I think if your cables are on the front of the sweater (or even on the back) it would be very doeable. --S
