Hi Peggy: Thanks for the welcome. I'm still sort of new to Knitpicks and didn't want to step on any toes. I appreciate the links and will check them out. Sorry I didn't get back to you sooner. I keep forgetting to check my messages.....bad Terry! bad Terry!

hi

I'm the first time (yet ambitious) sock knitter. I'm done with the first part, the cuff. I want my sock to last for a long time. have a question but don't know where to post. I hope it's the right place. How do you reinforce the heels and toes? I thought of using double thread ONLY at the heels and the toes but don't know how to do it in rounds. Would you help? Thank you so much.

There is a nylon reinforcing thread that you can buy, and I think it comes in several colors. You knit with it double stranded with your yarn in the areas where you want reinforcement. --S

T.: Theoretically you should be able to knit the heel and sole of a sock with a double strand. I haven't tried it yet, but you should be able to add a second strand when you get to the beginning of the sole (each rnd) and cut it off when you get to the end of the sole sts. The extra strand shouldn't go anywhere. There is also a method for knitting back for forth on the sole, but it involves a lot of slipping sts. Too much trouble for me. --P

I have an unusual problem that doesn't fit into any of the other discussions, so here goes......I had been away for a while and just got through my accumulated mail and realized that I DID NOT GET THE LAST KNIT PICKS CATALOG!!!! It was the one most recently on the website just before the newest one that is now on the site! (HUH) Now if that is NOT a crisis, I don't know what is. I promptly called customer service, and there were no catalogs to be found in any corner of any room in the whole Knit Pick complex to send me. Would anyone have one to spare, or instead of pitching a used one into the recycle bin, would you please send it my way? I will gladly reimburse you for your postage. I have been lovingly been hording the catalogs to look through time and time again, and feel I have missed something important or significant in it. Does that make sense??? Of course it does to a true Knit Picks fan! Thanks

I certainly understand the problem. I've been hoarding mine, too! I'll put it out to the knitters in my group. Let us know if you get one. Last one I have received is Fall 2009 expiring Nov. 2nd.The one before that was Fall 2009 with the Zephyrs on the cover. I have not yet received the one that's up on the website as "preview" with the Arden bag on the cover. So the one you want is the one with the Zephyrs on the cover? --P

The last catalog I got from Knit Picks was the one with the ZEPHYRS on the cover.....the one on the website now is the one I just got in the mail today and just love it....the one I DIDN'T get is the one between the Zephyrs and the November 2009 with the Arden bags on the front cover. UNLESS there was no paper catalog sent out between those two, just an on line catalog, and if that is the situation, then I apologize and blame it on a 'Brain Malfunction'....sorry. DUH....

There was a second Fall 2009 catalog with the Maeve Hat & Mittens Kit on the cover. You can see the catalog here. I received that one, but one the one with the Arden on the cover...but I seem to get all the catalogs late, so I'm not worried. I'm assuming the one with the mittens holding a present is the one you need. I'll ask my knitting friends. Don't worry about a brain malfunction. Although we all have those, I think this is the catalog you're missing. Someone probably stole it! They are filled with useful info. --P

YES, that is the one I didn't get...........thanks for verifying my 'sanity'........and if you do find an extra catalog, that would be wonderful.....I just love to re-read them and try to absorb all the useful information, and drooooooool over all the projects. Thanks again

I would suggest you also write a blog about it. I think more people will see that. You can include the link I gave you. I'll bet someone out there doesn't keep them. You're looking at the right time. Many of us haven't received the new catalog yet. --P

Peggy, I am not sure how to blog, and have never gotten involved with blogging, though I think I am somewhat computer literate. I wouldn't have the faintest idea how to start. I have not idea what link you are talking about having given me either. I must be having one of my 'dull' days today. Sorry
