That does help to explain and makes sense as well. Thank you very much!
Glad to help, Debbie. Sometimes in knitting it's many heads that make light work of the written "garble". =)
Well, said, Nutty. ♥c
I've just started the Classic Lines Cardigan and want to find out the recommended way to wash my swatch and eventually my sweater. I'm using the Knit Picks Shadow and Shimmer, of course. Can I soak it in Kookaburra Delicate wash and then block it? Or do you suggest something else? Thanks, Beverly in Wisconsin
You do want to wash and block your swatch in the same way you will care for the sweater, and Kookaburra for the wash and then blocking is great.
I agree. Use the washing method you will use when carrying for your garment. Otherwise the FO may not be the same as you expected after you block it. ♥c
This isn't a question, but I just gotta thank someone somewhere for the new "Pattern Library" added to the shopping website!!! Whoever came up with that brilliant idea... bless your fuzzy little heart!!! I won't have to go searching through all the OTHER patterns I've downloaded somewhere or another looking to see if I ordered one of the patterns yet that I've looked at! I've not been adding patterns to my cart simply because I can't remember if I already got that one or not! It'll probably increase sales of IDP patterns making it so easy to double check. ;-)

Might I suggest that you add the patterns that came in kits to this library too? I don't get a lot of kits, but since the pattern does come printed in the kit, it is a LOT easier to lose. Having an easy way to find and download the pattern again, would be great. It would also make it a lot easier for everyone when there is errata discovered later... the corrected information could be both noted there and downloaded when someone wants to make the design again. :-) I'm sure the webmaster can find some sort of algorithum (sp) that can track down previous kits purchased... and I know most of us would be willing to tell you which ones we've got too. Not sure how you'd work that out, but even if all you did was start adding new kits purchased, it would really be great!

Also, I've been able to talk myself out of getting into spinning, but adding that new avenue to KP is making it harder to dismiss out of hand. I'm still not ready for a drop spindle even, but I find myself considering it a lot more often now. However, I know me and know it will likely end up leading to a spinning wheel, so I'm still resisting the idea. Sooner or later, though... you'll probably "get me." :-)

Thank you, all of you, for all you do for the fiber community! We regularly express our gratitude by ordering... too much. LOL!
I'll have to go check that out! I love libraries. :) Thanks for the heads up. And DITTO to what she said. :)
You know you really, really want to spin.
We have a new member: legalbs who is having problems with a garter border rolling. If anyone can help her out, please do so! ♥c
I want to knit leg warmers for my granddaughters for Christmas. I don't really need a pattern, but I do need some dimensions. I've looked online for free patterns and haven't found one for children that gives the actual measurements, only one that tells you what kind of yarn to use, what size needles, and how many stitches to cast on. It doesn't even give a gauge! So if anybody knows how large to make legwarmers for a 6 year old and an 11 year old, I'd appreciate having that information. I know they're made to fit somewhat loosely, but I do need to have SOME idea of what circumference and length they should be.
Catherine, when I knit leg warmers for my 3 DGDs two years ago, I had my DD get measurements - ankle circumference, leg circumference just below the knee, and length (knee to ankle)... I did a gauge swatch, and took it from there. Hope that turns the light on for you.
