LEFT-HANDED MAGIC CAST-ON:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nw-lKOsxTRo
The knitter begins the video by casting on left-handed, but then switches to right-handed to knit.
I've been knitting for a couple of years, but have only done one, albeit a large, project--a never-ending blanket, where I play with purl and knit stitches to create pictures in blocks that I then sew together to form my blanket. Now, I'm starting my first project not related to the blanket: a toothfairy pillow for my nephew, a pattern I got from Knit Picks (http://www.knitpicks.com/patterns/Tooth_Fairy_Pillow_Pattern__D5071...). This is my first project working on something in the round and using the magic loop, and I'm having a hard time getting started. If anyone has done this project before and can give me some tips on how to get the initial 24 stitches cast on, I'd appreciate it.
I think knitstertoo did this using the ML method. If you send her a message, she might be able to help you, or refer you to someone else who can. You can get to her page here. Good luck! --P
Peggy, Thanks. Elizabeth and I hooked up and she is almost finished with her pillow. If only our Nonnas could be completed so quickly!! BTW, how is your lady going or coming?
It's hibernating! I've had too much else going on this year, with the long vacation and two surgeries. It's sitting all laid out in my workroom. When I go by it, I like to pet the yarn. I hope I can have it done for DD's wedding the end of July, though. --P
How is your ?thumb? doing. Well, I hope. I keep adding to my stash and Nonna is getting pushed further back down the pipe line. I ordered the Arden Purse in black and red and all of the notions. We shall see what pushes it (the purse) out of its place
in line. :-))
The shawl would look perfect at a summer wedding, though it may be a bit warm. But, I would wear it even if I was melting!!
It's likely the wedding will be air-conditioned. My experience has been that it's always too cold. Yes the thumb is going OK, I think. I'm still in the cast. The cast-off party will be the afternoon after I get my cast off, on my blog. The date is Dec. 2rd. There will be refreshments and photos of my hand sans cast posted on my blog. The last one was fun. This one should be, too! Happy knitting! (Can't wait to join you.) --P
